Literature survey of Pyrolysis:

 

As the conventional fuels have been diminishing very swiftly at a risky rate day by day the focus on alternative renewable sources of energy has been ever increasing. As a result biomass has been getting continued and increased attention. A solid waste such as scrap tires of bicycle and rickshaw. It is a fact that the whole world is generating a significant amount of scrap tires of bicycle and rickshaw as solid waste. Mostly these are under utilized and unutilized. In many places it is creating environmental and disposal problems as well. An attempt has been taken to convert these wastes into value added materials and energy by batch type fixed bed pyrolysis system. Pyrolysis is a new emerging technology for producing liquid fuel from solid waste such as scrap tires of bicycle and rickshaw. This technology is spreading with research and experimental work in many countries. They are trying to go for mass production. Very recently in the U.S.A a chemist of a university produced oil from rejected tires by pyrolysis technology. Argentina produced liquid product by pyrolysis from olive stone. In Bangladesh there is a huge amount of biomass solid wastes from scrap tires of bicycle and rickshaw that is not effectively and efficiently used. In this study widely available biomass solid waste such scrap tires of bicycle and rickshaw have been taken in to consideration. This wastage may be used for energy recovery as fuel. The convention of scrap tires of bicycle and rickshaw into liquid product by pyrolysis may be considered as a promising option. The pyrolysis oil may be used as a fuel in dedicated diesel engines and in industrial gas turbines. From fuel electricity can be generated. Besides there are scopes to upgrade the oil to obtain high grade fuel and valuable chemicals. The solid char can be used for making activated carbon. The char has its potential as a solid fuel. Thus, for developing country like Bangladesh, the potential and possibilities of this new technology can be investigated extensively.
